Amy Edmondson: How Psychological Safety Boosts Performance

Amy Edmondson, is the Novartis Professor of Leadership and Management at the Harvard Business School, a department that studies human interactions that lead to the creation of successful enterprises that contribute to the betterment of society.

Amy has been recognized by the biannual Thinkers50 global ranking of management thinkers since 2011, and in 2019 she also received that organization’s Breakthrough Idea Award for her work on psychological safety. Amy has written numerous articles and SEVEN books, on teaming, psychological safety and organizational learning.

If you are a team member looking to exercise leadership, this episode is for you. If you are a team leader or a CEO looking to create a psychologically safe environment, this episode will tell you how to do it. We also explored the awkwardness of giving and receiving feedback, dealing with bad bosses and much more.

My favorite quote of the episode was: “If you’re not hearing disagreement, that’s a bad sign”.
